How to Make These Crispy Chicken Strips
Chicken Strips
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees
- With the cereal flakes, take 1 cup and add them to a plastic zip lock bag, squeeze all the air out of it, and close it leaving a little space for air to escape
- Next, use the rolling pin and gently roll over the cereal in the bag to crush it into small pieces. We want to leave some pieces a bit bigger to add that extra crunch but we also want some crushed nice and small almost into a powder to help coat the chicken breast.
- Once you’re satisfied with the size of your crushed cereal add it to one of the small mixing bowls
- Grab the other two smaller bowls and add all-purpose flour to one, and the eggs to the other
- With the whisk or a fork beat the eggs together
- To the bowl or flour add salt, black pepper, and garlic powder
- To the bowl or eggs add the paprika
- Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch strips
- Take 1 of the chicken strips and first dip it into the flour to get a nice light coating
- Next, dip the flour-coated chicken strip into the egg mixture
- Finally dip the chicken strip into the cereal mixture, making sure to really coat it with some of the powder of the cereal and some of the bigger pieces
- Lay the coated chicken strip on the plate or tray
- Once all chicken strips have been coated by the flour, egg and then cereal, add them to your air fryer in a single layer, trying to keep them from touching. This way they will get nice and crispy all the way around
- Cook the strips for 8 minutes on one side, flip them over, and cook for another 6 minutes on the other or until they are golden brown.
- Always make sure any animal meat is cooked all the way through before eating.
Honey Garlic Dipping Sauce
- Start by drizzling a bit of olive oil into a saucepan and heat over medium heat.
- Mince the 3 garlic cloves until they are very small.
- Add the minced garlic to the saucepan, heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the honey and soy sauce into saucepan.
- Add in the black pepper and garlic powder, and stir everything together.
- Take a separate bowl and combine the cornstarch with 1 tsbp water until it creates a liquid paste.
- Add cornstarch mixture to saucepan and stir.
- Increase the heat to high/medium until the mixture reaches a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer for 1 minute and then remove from stove.
- Pour honey garlic sauce into a small sauce serving bowl and enjoy with the crispy chicken strips!

Tips & Notes for Chicken Strips
- If you don’t have the Heritage Flakes, any flakey cereal will work fine. I opted for this one because has minimal ingredients and no processed sugar.
- If you don’t have a rolling pin you can use another utensil that will crush the cereal like the bottom of a bowl or even a large spoon, or you can even use your hands to crush it up.
- White or brown eggs would both work.
- All-purpose or whole wheat flour will both work good.
- You can adjust the temperature of the air fryer, you may just have to adjust the cooking time as well. Always make sure to check that the chicken is cooked fully through.
- You can also eat these crispy chicken strips with other sauces, like ketchup, mayo, ranch. Whatever you choose.
