This post is all about the perfect Sunday Reset Routine for a healthy and productive week.
What Is A Sunday Reset Routine
A Sunday reset routine is essentially about getting prepared for the week ahead. It’s about laying the foundation for a week of health and productivity.
This holistic approach focuses on nourishing the mind, body, and soul. It allows you to pause, recharge, and realign with your goals and values.
From nourishing your body with nutritious meals to moving your body with love and self-care practices.
Each part of this perfect Sunday reset routine serves to restore energy and help you find balance.
By dedicating a little time on Sunday to gather your thoughts, intentions, and goals for the week, you empower yourself to approach this upcoming week with focus and a renewed sense of purpose.
Let’s jump into our perfect Sunday reset routine so you can plan for a week of fulfillment.
Sunday Reset Morning Ritual
The first part of our Sunday reset routine is our morning ritual.
The morning ritual sets the tone for the rest of the day. It allows you to start slow and enjoy a little you time before diving into some tasks on your to-do list.
Your morning ritual can start at different times depending on how you feel. You may prefer to get a jump start to your day and wake up with the sunrise, or maybe you want to get a little more sleep on this day of rest.
Whatever option feels best to you is the way to go.
The next part of our morning ritual is to practice some mindfulness. This could be in the form of meditation or maybe you enjoy practicing affirmations. Both are great choices to help you feel aligned and bring a positive mindset to the rest of your day.
After you’ve nourished your mind with some positive thinking and mindfulness we need to nourish our bodies. Take some time and make yourself a healthy nourishing breakfast. Let’s start your day off by fuelling your body with healthy and delicious food.
This could be a wholesome bowl of oatmeal or a smoothie filled with fruits and greens.
Either way, starting the day with a nutrient-dense breakfast will have you feeling ready to tackle the rest of your Sunday routine.
Planning & Organizing Your Week
The next part of our Sunday reset routine is our planning and organization for the week ahead.
Grab your calendar or planner and take some time to write out your to-do list for the upcoming week.
I love this simple weekly planner that comes in 5 different colours, and this monthly wall calendar is perfect for having appointments and events where you can see them.
Make note of any commitments you have for the week, any appointments, events, or birthdays, along with any tasks you need to get done, house-related or otherwise.
Pretty much we’re doing a giant brain dump.
Now you can also set your goals and priorities. This means you can plan out what is most important you get done this week because let’s be honest sometimes we don’t always get everything done we planned.
And that’s okay.
If you plan what’s most important to you then at least you know you accomplished what you needed to the most. This may be certain work projects that are due or maybe spending time and nurturing specific relationships in your life. Setting up that coffee date with your best friend you’ve been meaning to do.
While we’re planning for the week ahead we can’t forget about our nutrition. What we eat is such a huge part of our days and largely affects how we feel so your next step is to meal prep.
Plan out what meals or food you will be making for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Write yourself a grocery list and gather everything you need. Take some time to meal prep some lunch ideas, and dinner ideas so you have quick and easy food options ready when you’re running late or don’t want to cook.
This could mean cooking your favourite chicken recipe or cutting up some fruits and veggies for snacks. Having meals and food ready and prepared in the fridge makes healthy choices later in the week a no-brainer.
You’ll be less stressed about what you need to eat or cook before you already have food prepared.
Practice Reflection & Gratitude
Alright so now we’ve taken some time for ourselves right after we woke up, we’ve planned and organized our upcoming week, now it’s time to reflect and be grateful.
The first way to practice reflection is by journaling. If you’re new to journaling here are 15 best tips for beginners.
Journaling for our Sunday reset routine is a perfect way to look back on the previous week, how we were feeling, and any specific situations or events we want to open up about. This time allows us to do a little heart expanding.
You can also set your intentions for the week ahead. What you hope to achieve, maybe emotionally or spiritually. How you want to handle difficult situations if they arise etc.
This is also a great time to practice gratitude. Practicing gratitude has many health benefits including helping decrease depression and anxiety, improve sleep quality, and relieve stress.
You can practice gratitude by writing in your journal 3-5 things you’re grateful for that day or even practice by saying them aloud.
Or you can do both!
The next thing to do is practice visualization. By visualizing success and seeing yourself accomplish the goals you set for yourself you will put yourself in the mindset to do just that. Visualizing techniques help train the mind that we’ve already succeeded at those tasks so when they come around, success is the default mode.
You can even practice affirmations for success to help the visualization process. These 41 Affirmations for Success are a great place to start.
Practicing reflection and gratitude is about setting up a positive mindset for the week ahead so that no matter what happens you won’t let the things you can’t control affect your day.
Reset With A Self-Care Routine
Now it’s time for some self-care! Our favourite part.
Take some time to pour love into yourself.
Get some type of movement in to nourish the body you’re blessed to have. You can go for a relaxing walk, do yoga or pilates, stretch, or even do a workout if you’re feeling full of energy. Whatever feels good to you.
Getting exercise or movement helps to boost your mood and increases your energy.
After that, you can focus on pampering yourself and doing some relaxing self-care activities. Things such as taking a nice bath, doing a face mask, or taking a long shower.
Having a candle-lit bath is one of my favourite ways to relax.
Here are a couple of great-smelling candles if you’re in need. This one is a soy candle and smells like an apple orchard, and this one is an eco-friendly soy candle with a peach champagne scent.
During this relaxing time try to disconnect from technology. In our fast-paced society, we’re constantly bombarded with notifications, emails, and the endless scrolling of social media. This constant connectivity can take a toll on our mental health and well-being.
Taking a break from technology gives our minds the chance to reset and recharge. It allows us to be present in the moment and reconnect with ourselves.
This practice of disconnecting from technology, even for a couple of hours can help reduce your stress and create more inner peace. For other tips on reducing stress and calming your nervous system check this post out.
Evening Winddown
The last part of our Sunday reset routine is the evening winddown.
This is all about preparing for the next day. Laying your clothes out, packing your bags, gathering your things, and organizing your workspace.
It’s also about putting your “house to bed”. This means doing a quick tidy-up so that in the morning you’re not overwhelmed with mess and clutter all around your home.
This could be doing a load of laundry, folding clothes, putting the pillows and blankets back on your couch, running a load of dishes, and wiping the countertops.
Putting in this bit of effort the night before helps immensely in reducing your stress the next morning.
Once that’s all done you can do something calming and relaxing like reading your current favourite book in bed or even watching an episode of your favourite show.
I know some people are against TV before bed, but honestly, it’s all about what feels and works best for you. If you feel best, unwinding and relaxing to an episode of The Office before you go to sleep, then go for it girl!
Find the Sunday reset routine that works best for you. It’s all about balance and a healthy routine that you feel good about.
Most importantly try and get to bed early. Allowing yourself a good night’s sleep so you feel rejuvenated and ready to take on your week ahead.
Benefits of a Reset Routine
Practicing a Sunday reset routine can come with many benefits with ripple through your entire week.
First, it helps to instill structure into your life. Providing organization and clarity that sets a positive tone for upcoming days. By outlining goals and priorities for the week you help to ensure a smooth flow of all your important tasks.
This creates a feeling of accomplishment, empowering you to feel confident and have momentum throughout the week.
Also, by dedicating time to your mental and physical health on Sundays through mindfulness practices, exercise, and meal prep, you’re nurturing your mind, body, and soul.
This Sunday routine helps to reduce stress and anxiety for the week ahead as you’ve spent time planning and know exactly what you’re giving your energy to this upcoming week.
